What do you need to setup your first planted aquarium?
Good Quality Tank
An aquarium of 1-2 feet is recommended for beginners. Smaller aquariums are generally more stable and easy to maintain.
Your aquarium filter should be rated to turn over at least 3-5x the aquarium volume every hour.
Micro and Macro nutrients are really important for the growth of aqua plants.
Choose an appropriate light for the aquarium. Place the light on or above the tank and make sure to limit the light no more than 8 hours a day.
Selecting quality aqua plants and planting them at correct positions of the tank is really important.
Gravel should be course enough to allow water flow but fine enough to encourage nitrifying bacteria.
